Jewelry designs have been part of my life for the last seven years.
Signing up for a beginner's metal-smithing class was one of the best mistakes I ever made.
I thought I was signing up for a class to do big metal work that could be incorporated
into my stained glass designs. I ended up being in a class working with silver and other metals
taught by Mary Pearse. What a great class it ended up being for me!
I make sterling and fine silver jewelry using sheet silver, PMC, and wire and occasionally gold.
Looking for beads for my designs lead me on another path. I purchased a small,
very expensive bag of “Venetian beads” while on vacation and used them in a bracelet
with a handcrafted chain and charms. The finished bracelet called my name and I decided
to keep it for myself. I wore it one time and the color of the “Venetian beads” peeled off!
Much to my amazement I had been taken. The cost of spacer beads and my Venetian bead
experience made me realize I needed to learn to make my own beads so I would know where
they came from.
I was fortunate to find Katie O’Meara doing a lampworking
demonstration in a shop while I was vacationing in California last year, and she was kind
enough to accommodate my schedule and give me a private lesson on her day off.
I have since taken another class with the very talented Pam Wolfersberger.
I still have the Venetian bead bracelet to remind me to only offer the best designs
with the best products possible.
Thank you for visiting my site.
